*Phoenix is available for adoption in the UK *
Phoenix is a beautiful medium-sized crossbreed, who is approximately eight years old.
She came to the shelter in January 2015 after a man approached the shelter asking for help. Phoenix was originally part of a six-puppy litter, but sadly three of that litter had passed away. Although we were full, we couldn’t say no. She was adopted by a family in the UK in September 2015 and has lived with them for the past seven and half years. Unfortunately, due to a change in her previous owner’s circumstances, we have been asked to find Phoenix a new home and she has recently arrived in foster care.
Her foster family have said this about her:
‘What a bundle of fun Phoenix is! She’s trusting, exuberant, playful and gentle… and she’s beautiful.
She absolutely adores her walks in the countryside – splashing through puddles, having a paddle in ponds and rolling on the grass with sheer happiness.
She is very intelligent and knows many commands, including: ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘roll over’, ‘crawl’ and ‘spin’. She really is a lovely dog with lots of love to give. In the evenings she likes to snuggle up on the sofa or play with her doggy puzzles.
She loves other dogs and is very playful with them. Although she is eight, she still has lots of energy, enjoying two walks a day. We are absolutely besotted with her and, under different circumstances, would adopt her without a moment’s hesitation!’
A countryside or semi-suburban area would suit her best. She can be nervous on street walks so if a potential home were to be in a more urban area, a car would be needed so she could enjoy her walks in the countryside. She is nervous of joggers, cyclists and people who she hasn’t spotted in advance – she reacts by barking but it is completely manageable and avoidable if she is given enough space and reassurance. She can be nervous of new people coming into the house - barking initially - but she is quickly won over and very loving with people once she gets to know them.
She could live with another dog but we think she would prefer to be the only dog so she doesn’t have to share all the attention. However, she would certainly benefit from regular walks with some doggy pals. Unfortunately, we don’t think she is suitable to live with cats as she currently shares her foster home with a cat who likes to try to chase.
Any children in the home would need to be teenagers as she can be very bouncy!
Her new home should have a garden and high fencing as she is very agile and has been known to clear a tall baby gate! Her owners should be active, enjoy long walks in the countryside and be able to support her when she is feeling a bit worried.
Phoenix has been given a clean bill of health. She is spayed and up-to-date with her vaccinations.
She is house-trained, and can be left for a few hours at a time. She is currently raw-fed and sleeps downstairs in an open crate or on the sofa. Phoenix is currently in the Brighton area, but we are happy to re-home her anywhere in the UK.
