Our Next Adoption Trip from Bulgaria to Holland is in Early September 2010

 Lily was born on the streets and has lived all her life as a street dog. During this time, she has had many litters of pups and suffered hardships and abuse. Lily has been spayed and at the same time had a bullet removed from her leg. She sometimes limps on the other front leg where it appears her shoulder was once fractured. Despite this, she is the most beautiful natured girl and craves love and attention. She would be ideally suited to someone who is at home all day as she likes the comfort of knowing someone is around. Although she does get on with other dogs, she would be better in a home without other animals. All her life she has had to struggle to find shelter and food so she does not like other animals near her food or in her territory. If you don't have other pets and you are at home during the day, you could not wish for a more loyal and loving dog.

Pippin was born around the 15th February. She was outside a cafe looking for scraps. She is slightly wire haired which leads us to believe she is part barak. She is a lovely little girl.

Indy was found in another town on the 6th November 2009. Kerry and Tony saw a lady beating this street pup with a broom. He ran happily to Kerry and they brought him home. He is a big pup but still had all his baby teeth. We guess he was born at the end of July. He is very happy, friendly and outgoing with people and other animals.

He is a very intelligent dog and took only a couple of days to learn to sit and give his paw. He will need a large garden, plenty of exercise and someone who has plenty of time to train him and play with him. Indy was born in September 2009.

Heather was found wandering round the town centre on her own. She has always been a very friendly and outgoing little girl. She needs her own family where she will be given the love and attention that she deserves.

We were asked to take Oscar after he had been found on the streets. He was very thin and weak. We noticed that his teeth weren't in a very good condition and this had probably limited him as to what he could eat. He has been getting four meals a day of tinned food and is really doing well. We suspect that at one time he did live in a house and belonged to someone as he is very good at opening doors. We think he might be about 6 years old. It is hard to put an exact age on him as poor nutrition leads to early tooth decay in many of the dogs here. He is quite a tall dog and the more weight he puts on, the stronger he becomes. He loves to play and loves to go out for walks. We think Oscar may have been born around 2002.

Jessie is a husky. she was given to our youngest son Luke earlier this year. She was pregnant when she was given to him. After giving birth to 6 lovely pups, she is now ready for adoption. Jessie takes her time getting to know people. Once she has formed a bond with someone, she is very affectionate. We prefer Jessie to go to someone who has experience or knowledge of huskies. Jessie's estimated year of birth is 2007

We were asked by someone if we could take Buddy. He was just 5 weeks old when he came to us. Buddy has now been wormed and treated for parasites and is getting proper puppy food and milk. By the time Buddy is fully vaccinated and can go for adoption, he will be four months old.

Todd is Brownie's pup. She only had the one pup and he is a beautiful little boy. Todd will be with us until he finishes all his vaccinations which means he will be just under 4 months old before he can go to a new home.

Luke found a tiny pup hiding under a bench in the town centre. He found the puppy in the middle of a thunderstorm.  The little pup looks barely 4 weeks old. Luke has called him Keegan.

6 June 2010.  -  Today we saw a dog in the middle of the road with two tiny pups. We grabbed the pups and the mum ran up the mountain where we could hear other pups. We knew it wouldn't be long before her other pups tried to follow her down or even fall. It was a tough decision to take the pups from their mum but if we had left them, they wouldn't last long. Kerry and I went up the mountain to get them. Kerry went up the last bit of the way and found another two pups. It was quite a scarey rescue as the way up was steeper than it looks on the video. We now have the pups. one boy and three girls.

Destiny turned up in the field across from our house. We heard her crying as she was trying to get under the fence to come over to the house. She was very dehydrated but felt much better after milk and puppy food. We have no idea where she came from or how she find us. She is a friendly little girl and will make a lovely addition to any family.

Cindy is a very friendly little girl. We were asked to take her in along with her brother Tommy. The man who owned the mother of the pups was unable to keep them. cindy was born around the 6th May. Her mother was a small terrier/barak so we expect Cindy will be small to medium. Cindy will be available for the September adoption trip.

25 June 2010 -  Freddy was found in a village out of town. He was so hungry that he was in the middle of the road, eating cherries that had fallen from trees. He was in a bad way when we got him home. He was thin, hungry, dehydrated and full of parasites. He had a terrible skin allergy due to all the fleas. His skin condition is being treated and despite not being used to human contact before we found him, he is now a very loving little pup.

There is no one about to feed the dogs so the mother dog has abandoned the pups and gone elsewhere. None of them are used to contact with people so it was a struggle to catch them. There are two boys and three girls.

 Thor is one of the 5 pups and is a little boy.

15 July 2010 - The boys Luke and his friend Lubo climbed up a very steep mountain to rescue some pups.  They did eventually catch three of the pups. It wasn't easy as the pups aren't used to people and it was quite dangerous.  Tthere are still more pups up there but we had to leave it as it was getting dark.

 Pepsi is one of three pups and is a little girl.

22 July 2010 - We were driving back along the mountain road from Smolian to Rudozem and a mother dog and pup were walking in the middle of the road. It is a very windey road with lots of blind bends. We jumped out and tried to coax them... to the side of the road with food. the mother dog was very timid and wouldn't come near us. The pup wouldn't let her get any of the food and she was very thin. We made the hard decision to take the pup before it got killed. further down the road we came across another pup that was limping but heading in the same direction. It was obviously being left behind as she couldn't keep up. We managed to get her aswell. 

Damson is one of the two pups and is a little girl.

Ben was brought here by two men who said he would be killed if we didn't take him. We had tried explaining that we had no room. They took the rope off him, threw stones at him then drove off. He was so confused but despite this he came back to where he could see people. He is a very friendly dog and loves attention. He has been fine with the cats and has not shown any aggression towards other dogs. Ben is a Barak type dog (Bulgarian hunting dog). We cannot be sure of his exact age but would guess that he is a couple of years old.
