When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he flys from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Reunions at the Bridge

(Author unknown)

The young pup and the older dog lay on shaded sweet grass watching the reunions. Sometimes a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes a whole family would approach the Rainbow Bridge, be greeted by their loving pets and cross the bridge together.

The young pup playfully nipped at the older one. "Look! Something wonderful is happening!" The older dog stood up and barked, "Quickly. Get over to the path." "But that's not my owner," whined the pup, but he did as he was told.

Thousands of pets surged forward as a figure in white walked on the path toward the bridge. As the glowing figure passed each animal, that animal bowed its head in love and respect. The figure finally approached the bridge, and was met by a menagerie of joyous animals. Together, they all walked over the bridge and disappeared.

The young pup was still in awe. "Was that an angel?" he whispered. "No son." The older dog replied. "That was more than an angel. That was a person who rescued animals."

Emma Clarke left this verse on the group page for me. It was earlier this year, when Elf went missing on her own. That time she came back after 3 weeks.

I went out for a walk

It was so lovely in the sun.

Chasing the leaves, I was having so much fun.

Jumping and climbing I could have done it all day.

When I stopped to rest, I realised I had lost my way.

I love and miss you and want you to know , it was nothing you have done.

I just got carried away with playing in the sun.

Please try not to worry too much about me.

I can look after myself, and in a way I am free.

Although I'll never stop looking for a way home, we will never be apart.

I will always feel your love for me, deep within my heart.

It may be all we have for now, but it's enough for me.

Cause you'll never know when I'll walk through your door

and expect you to have my tea.

For Elf, may you return soon

I am an Animal Rescuer~Author unknown

My job is to assist God's creatures. …

I was born with the drive to fulfill their needs.

I take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures without planning or selection.

I have bought dog food with my last dime.

I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand.

I have hugged someone vicious and afraid.

I have fallen in love a thousand times.

And I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body too many times to count.

I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends.

I don't often use the word "pet".

I notice those lost on the road side and my heart aches.

I will hand raise a field mouse and make friends with a vulture.

I know of no creature unworthy of my time.

I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven,

but I believe there are.

Why would God make something so perfect

and leave it behind?

Some may think we are masters of the animals,

but the animals have mastered themselves. ..

something people still haven't learned.

War and abuse make me hurt for the world,

but a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind.

We are a quiet but determined army and we are making a difference every day.

There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan,

nothing more rewarding than saving a life,

no higher recognition than watching them thrive.

There- e is no greater joy than seeing a baby play who, only days ago, was too weak to eat.

By the love of those who I've been privileged to rescue,

I have been rescued.

I know what true unconditional love really is,

for I've seen it shining in the eyes of so many, grateful for so little.

I am an Animal Rescuer.

My work is never done.

My home is never quiet.

My wallet is always empty,

but my heart is always full.

Misty

We have been through it all, through thick and thin

Through ups and downs, through losses and wins

Side by side I have watched you grow up

To a beautifull dog , from a cute little pup.

The best of friends for such a long time

But now we are at the end of the line

I feel like losing you will be the last straw

My walk through life has been reduced to a craw

Now the time has come and from this world you have gone

My heart will be broken but I have to carry on

Till that day that we again meet upon a shining hill

Know that I love you Misty ,and I always will

(this counts for all my girls......my love for them will never fade, and i do believe when my time has come, i will meet them again)
