24th July
The vet came yet again to try and sedate Teddy for castration. Once again, Teddy did not go to sleep and again we refused to have him castrated while he was still awake or able to feel pain. He said he would try again next week but we told him enough is enough and that it is totally unfair to keep putting Teddy through this. Teddy does need dental work and four teeth have to be removed. We are reluctant to send him to the vets university for this to be done as they weren't exactly gentle when Kerry took Tia. I think it would be better for Teddy if we can find someone to foster or adopt him in another country so that he can have the work done there.

Just got back from the rounds. Managed to find Hercules in the same place that we found him the other night. He wasn't there the first time we drove that way so he must hide in that general area. Tony was able to feed him and stroke him. He has always refused to come anywhere near me but tonight he actually took two bonios from me. The third time that i tried, there was too much going on around him and he looked very agitated. It was quite nerve wracking being so close to him while I could see he wasn't happy. We are certain now that he is the old karakachan that we used to see about 15 km away on a mountain road. He confirmed it by trying to attack a car that drove too slowly past him tonight. 2 years ago I was on a bus going along the mountain road and the driver told me to watch what happened if he drove slowly past a karakachan that was guarding a flock. The dog flew at the bus aggresively. The driver told me that nobody could stop their car anywhere near the dog. This is where we saw the shepherd with the older dog and three younger ones, earlier in the year and there is now only one younger dog. At least we know that tonight Hercules has had a good feed and again he recognised and came to Tony.

The vet has been today and given 28 dogs and pups their first vaccination and micro chip. Tess had her 2nd injection which she couldn't have before as she wasn't well. He also had to give our own two dogs and cats their anuual boosters so it was a busy day. Tony spotted Hercules earlier today when he went to a shop in the centre. He called Hercules over to him and fed him. We have just had good news that piipin who was being fostered in Holland, has now been adopted.
The ulcer on Blossoms eye has now healed up and she is doing fine.
We saw a video of a news report today about a man from Rudozem who has been attacked by dogs. At the end of the report it states that the mayor of Rudozem says he has the street dog problem under control and that the isolator in Kurdzhali captures and neuters them. There was no mention of a registered foundation (RSDR) in his town that has taken over 120 dogs off the streets. He also fails to mention that the dog responsible for the attack is still loose in a factory yard along with two other guard dogs and could quite easily attack again.
Rumours are now going around the town that the "English family" are to blame for the dog attack as they reckon we took the dogs puppies away and that made it mad. They seem to miss the point that the dog who attacked the man was male and that the man had already been attacked and was in hopital when we took the abandoned pups from the factory where the guards dogs are. The problem is that if we cause a fuss over it then the isolator will be called out to collect all the dogs they can find and despite the fact that dogs should be vaccinated neutered and returned to where they are caught, the dogs are never seen again.
