Freddy is now well enough to go in the puppy pen with the smaller pups. He spent his first night in there with them last night and all went well.

More good news is that Sandi's eyes appear to have cleared up. There is now no sign of the cloudiness at all.

11th July - News from Diane

Yesterday when we went out doing the rounds there were only 2 dogs about from the pack of 15 which were near a village out of town.  We don't know what has happened to the others. Sashkos sister was about but ran off when we went to feed her. We still haven't been able to get her pups and so far haven't seen any of them. Luke saw the karakachan yesterday and today so we know he is still about. By the time Luke let us know and we got to where he was, the dog had run off. One of the young dogs that used to be with Tess, comes up for food that we leave out but runs off as soon as she spots anyone. We think she is pregnant.

There have always been a lot of cats about but at the moment there seem to be a lot more than usual and many kittens. Some people do put scraps out for the street cats but with so many of them fighting for it, there isn't enough for them all. We have been feeding a lot more cats over the last few weeks.

Photo:  There were more cats and kittens on the pavement. In three years, we have never seen so many cats and kittens about.

We couldn't even photograph the number of cats we see each time we do the rounds. Wherever there is a bin, there are cats and many more that live in the wood pile that you see here. We must see close to a hundred cats whenever we do the rounds.  The cats seem to be tolerated apart from a few sick individuals who cut their tails off, but the main victims of the cruelty are the dogs so we have to build the shelter for them first.  Eventually when we do have a shelter we would have to have a separate building or large shed for the cats.

If anyone could help us reach our goal for our shelter, please go to the website  www.streetdogrescue.com

Please note:  We will be able to accept cheques soon, so if anyone who would like to send us a cheque, please email: streetdogrescue@gmail.com for details.
