9th August
Tony was coming back from the centre today and as he was approaching a junction where the police are usually parked, one of the street dogs we feed was crossing the road. He saw a car deliberately swerve twice to try and hit it. Tony just stopped the van in the middle of the road to get the dog to safety and at the same time was shouting at the guys in the car, who couldn't go anywhere because the van was blocking the road.
The police were there and one got out of his car and went over to Tony. Imagine the shock of the two guys, when instead of telling Tony off for blocking the junction, the policeman said "Its ok Tony, I saw what happened" and gave the guy driving the car a ticket for dangerous driving. The police man told Tony he saw the car swerve twice to try and hit the dog. The dog was absolutely fine and we feel that this is such a breakthrough.
We have another tiny kitten coming tomorrow. A lady asked if we could help with a tiny kitten that she had rescued. she had taken the kitten from some children who were playing about with it quite roughly. Usually we have to say that we cannot take animals from other parts of Bulgaria as we struggle to find room for the local animals. This lady was willing to travel a 14 or 15 hour round trip to bring the kitten to us as she is staying at someone else's house so cannot keep him and is worried that what she is doing for him is right. I know there are thousands of kittens on the streets all over Bulgaria but I am touched that someone will go to these lengths to save one tiny life, so we agreed to take him.
Photo: Katie went to her new home today. Our Holland Adoption Team, Cor and Reini drove a long way so that they could do a home check and make sure that Katie was settled. She is now settled in with a lovely new owner in the photo above.

Photo: Cor giving Katie a hug before saying goodbye.

Photo: Hercules has now started following Diane around and has been going up to her for pats. He has started now to wander around the garden and the noise of the pups doesn't bother him anymore. The other dogs - Barney, Ranger, Jessie and Oscar have accepted Hercules wandering round the garden and dont bark at him now.
Kind Regards
