Update: Koontz's adoption to Deborah and Bogdan in Germany

Posted by RSDR on February 28, 2010 at 6:19 AM

Hi everyone.  As you all know transport of our adopted dogs left last Thursday.  The first stop for the dogs was to be Koontz, who has been adopted by a lovely couple in Germany:  Deborah and Bogdan.

Koontz is a special little dog who was named after a wonderful author Dean Koontz, who donated signed books to the RSDR.

RSDR decided to honour Dean by naming the little pup they had just found after him.  Koontz was found suffering from hypothermia in the snow and was very weak and anaemic due to the amount of parasites. He would not have lasted out in the cold.  Since being found, Koontz has grown into a beautiful little dog, who loves people and loves affection and being cuddled in your lap.

Deborah and Bogdan have been excited for weeks about Koontzs arrival and have prepared everything for him for his comfort.

She waited for Bogdan to get home that that night before opening the parcels.

Koontz was then transported on Thursday night with Pet Chauffeurs who looked after him and all the dogs.

Koontz arrived in Germany on Saturday night.  Deborah wrote a lovely letter telling us about his arrival.

HI Anita,

Yes, Koontz arrived around 7pm. I would say the night has turned out a success.

At first Koontz was trying to run away from me and Bogdan and would refuse to walk when we had him on the leash. Nevertheless, he pottied outside before we brought him in. Then we showed... him around (carried him because he refused to move from the front door). Afterwards we gave him water and fed him. He ate immediately and right after went to sleep right by the bowl. A friend also came by and he loved her! I think she was his favorite. Anyway, after a little nap he woke in better spirits and gave each of us a little puppy kiss on the face! We couldn't believe how quickly he became affectionate! Next, Bogdan gave him atreat and Koontz ran right into the crate and refused to come out. Ultiamtely he fell asleep. We all ate and at the end of our meal, he woke up looking for us and wagging his tail! We went out on a walk again, he went potty once again, and immedeatly when he arrived he ate and went back into the crate to sleep! He now looks 100 times more comfortable and happy...but very tired too.

I will be sending the photos and video shortly. I just need to upload them.

Kind regards,

Deborah

Photos of Koontz's first Night in Germany.

At first he was very nervous and scared. He didn't want to move, particularly away from the door!

Still a bit unsure.                                                      He wanted to be near the door.

Then he ate!!                                                                      The he slept a bit.

  then relaxed a bit more.....

Later through the night he got a bit more adventurous and started to show affection.

Here is a lovely video of Koontz. with Bogdan, you can watch the video by pressing on the below link:

Everyone at RSDR would like to thank you Deborah and Bogdan for adopting Koontz, we know he has gone to lovely people and will be happy in his new home.  We look forward to future updates from you both.
