Saddened by recent news in Holland

We are saddened by the recent news that 37 dogs from Bulgaria have been confiscated in Holland.  These dogs have not come from RSDR and we do not know who sent them.

We have read that some of the dogs are sick, some scared, some aggressive and that passports and paperwork were not in order. We feel sad for these dogs and also that this could affect adoptions for any dogs from Bulgaria.

All our dogs are with us for quite some time before they go for adoption. During this time we are able to get to know each dog individually. If a dog isn’t suitable for adoption, then it isn’t re-homed. Our dogs are loved and cared for at our own home. They are treated for parasites, all vaccinations, microchip and passports are in order and a vet checks them before they travel. We then use a professional pet chauffeur service who we know are DEFRA registered and will take good care of the dogs on the journey. Our dogs do not share transport with any other dogs. We would not allow our own pets to travel in any other way, so we wouldn’t expect anything else for our rescue dogs. Furthermore almost all of our dogs have already been adopted before travel so that they can go straight to loving homes. Only in a few cases have dogs been fostered and then it is by caring and experienced people.

We have at times been criticized by other organizations who say that dogs can be transported cheaper or that we could move more dogs by just sending them to a shelter. We do things our way and will continue to do so. It might cost more money and we may not be able to send as many dogs for adoption, but we love and care about each and every dog that goes for adoption. So we will not cut corners.

That's a hard blow. Hope it will not affect your work and the transport to Holland.
